Vokaal Kabaal (Beatbox x Theatre)
Sat, 20 Mar 2027 · Theater Zuidplein, Rotterdam, Netherlands
Picture this: two teams, no script, and an audience that decides who wins.
**Performed in Dutch Language**
Vokaal Kabaal isn't a concert and it isn't a play, it's something right in between. Beatboxers and theatre performers share the stage and build scenes, sounds and jokes live, with no safety net and no do-overs. One moment you'll hear a full drum kit coming out of someone's mouth, the next that same person is deep in a scene the audience just set in motion.
HOW THE NIGHT WORKS
Two teams, Blue and Red, go head to head. A gamemaster keeps throwing in new challenges, genres and plot twists, while the host pulls you, the audience, straight into the action. After every round, you and the rest of the room decide which team pulled it off best. No jury, no fixed outcome: the room's energy calls the shots.
WHAT YOU'LL SEE
Expect scenes like:
Car-scene: a half-rehearsed, half-improvised situation that can spin off the rails at any moment, in the best way
Genre-switch: the audience sets a situation, and on the gamemaster's cue the scene jumps from romance to reality TV to musical, with zero warning
The Murder Game: performers solve a "murder" using nothing but beatbox sounds and movement, built from details you supplied beforehand
Every scene is built live with voice, rhythm and physical comedy. Nothing is set in stone, so no two nights are the same.
